Vmax丨Repair Steps for Forklift Drive Axle Housing

The drive axle housing of the forklift is firmly installed on the forklift frame. Due to the rigid connection between the drive axle and the frame, the drive axle will bear the majority of the weight during forklifts, handling, and stacking operations. In addition, there may be uneven roads and uneven load on the forks, resulting in bending and fracture of the drive axle, wear of the half axle sleeve bearing hole, and wear of the half axle sleeve journal.

01. Inspection and Repair of Bent Forklift Drive Axle Housing

(1) Inspection of bending of the drive axle housing. Before inspection, the flatness of the half shaft and the flat contact flange of the hub end should be corrected to eliminate the end face circular runout error. Then, the standard half shaft should be installed on the drive axle housing, the bearing should be tightened, and the center position of the left and right half shafts should be tested from inside the housing to determine whether there is bending. The difference between the two axes should not exceed 0.75mm.

(2) When the bending of the drive axle housing exceeds the limit, it should be corrected. During calibration, the corrected deformation should not be greater than the original bending deformation, and the corrected pressure should be maintained for a period of time to achieve a certain plastic deformation of the bridge shell. If the deformation is too large and the bending deformation is greater than 2mm, it can be corrected after preheating, but the heating temperature is not allowed to exceed 700 ℃. It is best to avoid heating correction for the cast axle housing.

02. Repair of Broken Forklift Drive Axle Housing

The cracks in the middle of the drive axle housing and on the flange can be repaired by welding, and the key points of operation are as follows:

(1) Cut a 90 ° V-shaped groove along the crack, with a depth of 2/3 of the thickness.

(2) Drill holes with a diameter of 5mm each at a distance of 6-10mm from the two ends of the crack.

(3) Welding repair cracks, the welding layer should be higher than the base metal, but not more than 1mm. After the front side is welded, repair welding should be carried out on the back side, and the weld seam should be leveled after welding. For welding repairs on the working plane, the flatness error should not exceed 0.25mm.

(4) After welding the crack, a reinforced web plate should be welded at the crack location, with a thickness of generally 4-6 mm. The reinforced web plate should be symmetrical with the center of the drive axle housing.

(5) If the crack penetrates into the drive axle housing cover or the flange plane of the main reducer, another reinforcing web ring should be welded after welding repair. The reinforcing web ring on the plane of the drive axle housing cover can be reconnected to the outside, while the main reducer housing should be reconnected to the inside depending on the internal space. When welding the reinforcing web ring, the reinforcing web ring should be tightly pressed onto the plane with bolts first to avoid displacement and bending during welding.

(6) After welding and strengthening, the drive axle housing needs to be rechecked for straightness error, flatness error of the housing cover surface and the main reducer flange plane, and corrected and ground to meet the standards.
